Point of difference – Understanding your uniqueness is the best way to attract the right audience.
It’s probably one of the hardest questions to answer as there are usually so many! This is a critical one because if you are not convinced on why I should buy from you (or hire you), how are you going to convince others?
You started a business, so it is not time to be self-conscious or ‘too humble’ about what you can bring to the table.
You need to summarise the things that make dealing with your business worth it. Write them down.
All in a short sentence or less. Your point of difference should speak about action and proof, not just values or qualities. They should make me (your potential customer) consider having your brand in my life.
But why should I believe you as a first-time buyer?
As an example: – We have the best pizza in Adelaide! This can be said by anyone and is up to the pizza lovers to decide if the business was telling the truth.
Instead, try: – Our customers can’t get enough of our pizzas and have named us the best in town! Just Check Our Google Reviews.
This talks about action (check out) and 3rd party-proof (Google Reviews).
Always back up your POD with some kind of proof if you can.
Always encourage happy customers to share their experience online – post reviews and social media posts tagging your business.
Own your point of difference, prove it, and don’t be shy to shout it from the rooftops!
